The Hinomaru (Japanese Flag) is designed on the back of the 500 Riel bill. The two bridges are depicted commonly known as "Kizuna Bridge" and "Tsubasa Bridge". Both were built over the Mekong River, a large river that flows north and south through Cambodia, with grant aid from Japan's ODA (Official Development Assistance). Both are indispensable for the development of Cambodia and people's lives. The two bridges and the Hinomaru (Japanese Flag) on the 500 Riel banknote reflect the Cambodian people's feelings for Japan.
